Frequently Asked Questions
Can you help me choose a size for my belongings? I don’t know what I need.
Of course we can. 24 hours a day, we’re here to help. If you’re unsure about what size unit you’ll need, give us a call on 1300 003 008, send us an email or visit our Units page. We have sizes ranging from 2m x 3m to 9m x 3.5m and approximate descriptions of what’s likely to fit inside.
What forms of security do you have?
Store 4 U Self Storage offers 2m tall barbed wire fencing along the perimeter of each of our facilities. Each storage unit has 2 individual locking mechanisms where you can supply your padlocks of choice. The more robust the padlock, the greater the security. Furthermore, Store 4 U has installed both security cameras and motion censored lights at each of our facilities to ensure your goods are protected day and night.
When can I access my unit?
We understand that sometimes the most convenient times can also be the most inconvenient. Store 4 U is open to our customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Will there be enough room for me to drive my car in front of my unit?
Every single unit offered to Store 4 U customers is on the ground floor with drive up accessibility. Not only is it accessible by car but your rental truck will fit too. Our driveway extends around the entire perimeter of the property as well so that you won’t ever have to reverse out.
Will I have to pay any deposits?
Each unit has a $100 deposit to be paid before you move your goods in. This deposit is entirely refundable in the event that your unit is left clean and you have returned your gate key. As we are a family business, charging a deposit affords us protection from abusive storers.
How can I pay for my unit?
Store 4 U Self Storage has engaged with EziDebit Global Payments to ensure that your payments are just as secure as your goods. Utilising EziDebit’s online payment solution, we are able to process your bank account or credit/debit card to take away the hassle of remembering when rent is due.
What’s the minimum period I can rent a unit for?
The minimum rental period is 1 month.
Do I need to sign anything?
Every new customer needs to fill out and sign a rental agreement, an EziDebit Online Payments form and a personal information document. The rental agreement and personal information document have been supplied by the Self-Storage Association of Australia and are designed to keep both the storer and facility owner fully informed of their rights when storing.
What do I need to do when I move out of the unit?
Not all that much! What’s most important is that you give us at least 2 weeks of notice of your intention to move out. Once you’ve moved your goods out, please sweep the unit and ensure you have left no belongings behind. If the unit is left dirty, your deposit will not be refunded.
What if I want to stay a bit longer than I originally agreed to?
Every week we have customers telling us horror stories about problems with removalists, new houses, unexpected downsizing etc. We make it our mission to be as accommodating as possible. If you’re unsure how much longer you’ll need the unit, we can proceed forward on a month by month agreement. All we ask is that prior to moving out of your unit you give us 2 week’s notice.
Do I need a padlock for my unit?
Yes. Each unit is fixed with 2 locking mechanisms that require padlocks. Whether you only use 1 or more is entirely up to you. The benefit of supplying your own padlock is that it ensures YOU, and only YOU have access to your unit.
HELP! I need to move in today. Can I?
In short, YES! All that a move in requires is that your rental agreement, EziDebit form and personal information document are signed; your driver’s licence is scanned (both front and back) and your first month’s payment is made. All this can be accomplished in the space of half an hour.
Am I allowed to stack my belongings on top of each other?
Absolutely. It’s encouraged. The benefit of storing with Store 4 U is that each of our units offers a generous 3m of height. This is why it’s important to make sure you choose the right unit. We don’t want you paying for space you don’t need.
Should I insure my goods?
If your goods are worth storing, they’re worth insuring. Goods in a storage unit will, in a lot of cases, be covered by your home and contents insurance however, we ask that you always double check with your insurance provider. If your goods are not insured, we will gladly process a policy for you via self-storage insurance specialists Midland Insurance.
Do you mind if I store my treasure chest of explosives and gold in your units?
Oh boy. Please refer to our ‘What Not to Store’ page.
